OBDScan

Car diagnostics & live data on your iPhone

OBDScan turns your iPhone into an OBD-II scan tool. Connect an ELM327-compatible adapter over Bluetooth LE or Wi-Fi and read what your car's engine computer reports, in real time and entirely on your device. No adapter yet? Try the built-in Demo mode.

Features

Live data
Watch standard OBD-II sensors update live: engine RPM, vehicle speed, coolant and intake temperatures, throttle, voltages and more. Values are shown per ECU, and you choose the channels and the reading rate.
Dashboard
Build a dashboard of gauges and sparklines for the readings you watch most, with optional high/low threshold alarms.
Diagnostics
Read stored, pending and permanent trouble codes and clear codes after an explicit confirmation. See readiness monitors, Mode 06 test results and vehicle information (VIN). Codes are classified by SAE structure; the app does not include a manufacturer fault-description database.
Record & export
Record a session and export it as CSV or raw data. Import and share recordings; they are visible in the Files app.
Trips
Optionally record a trip's route on your device. The route never leaves your iPhone.
34 languages
Including full right-to-left layouts, Dark and Light themes, VoiceOver and Dynamic Type.
Privacy-first
Your OBD data, recordings, trips and logs stay on your device. No tracking. See the Privacy Policy.

What do I need to connect to my car?

A separate ELM327-compatible OBD-II adapter, either Bluetooth LE or Wi-Fi, plugged into your car's OBD-II port. Classic Bluetooth-only adapters are not supported by iPhone apps in general.

I don't have an adapter. Can I try the app?

Yes. Demo mode runs the whole app with a synthetic vehicle and needs no hardware. Open the Connection tab, choose Demo and start the session.

How do I read and clear trouble codes?

Open the Diagnostics tab to read stored, pending and permanent codes. To clear codes, tap Clear and confirm. Clearing codes also resets readiness monitors, and a problem that still exists will bring the code back.

How do I export a recording as CSV?

Record a session in the Recordings area, then export it as CSV or raw data and share it. Recordings are stored in the app's Documents folder and are visible in the Files app.

Which languages are supported?

34 languages, including right-to-left languages. Change the language in Settings.

Does the app work with every car?

It uses the standard OBD-II protocol and depends on your vehicle and adapter. We cannot guarantee compatibility with every vehicle or adapter. OBDScan is an independent app and is not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or adapter maker.
